Liam Vaughan is a student at Penn State University majoring in Film Production as well as Digital Art and Media Design. Between his two majors, he focuses mostly on developing stories and animation. Alongside that, Liam currently interns at the children media development company, Pixel and Pebble.
This past year, Liam was accepted into the competitive Hollywood Program at Penn State, selected alongside only 15 other students. The program allowed him to spend an entire semester out in the Hollywood area for the opportunity to work an industry internship. This all came together when Liam interned at HappyNest Entertainment, a children and family animation development company, earlier this year.
While Liam was in Hollywood, he also worked as Narrative Lead on Nautilus, a VR experience put together by a team of 9 Penn State students. At the same time, he also animated 2 segments for a year-long narrative student film, (In)Dependent. Liam’s own films have also been shown in festivals across the country, including in Portland and New York City.
Outside of classes, Liam is also active around campus. Entering his fifth year with the organization, he now acts as President of the Student Film Organization. In the role, Liam helps cultivate a community of Penn State’s film-makers and film-lovers. Liam was also elected as Creative Director of Penn State’s Animation Club. In this role, Liam helps create connections to the organization members. This included the creation of a club newsletter that he still writes to weekly.
Liam has also gained skills in using various software including the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Toon Boom Harmony, Storyboard Pro, Procreate, and more. He uses this knowledge as a worker in one of Penn State’s computer labs as an editing lab assistant.
